Cake Smash Photographer Glasgow

I’ve been saving sharing this Cake Smash session for a couple of months and finally Lewis turned 1 today and I can share the session.

We knew lockdown would happen after Christmas and Lewis would miss the opportunity to celebrate his milestone with a cake smash & splash session, so we took the opportunity to shoot the session when he was 11 months old.

Booking your baby’s cake smash session when your baby is around 11 months is the really the best time as some babies when they reach 12 months old aren’t interested in sitting down never mind the cake.  Just something to consider if you are thinking about booking.

I akways ask parents lots of questions about their children when they book a session as it allows me to build a relationship and keep your little one happy.

Here are some facts about Lewis and tips and feedback from Lewis’s Daddy on their cake smash experience.

What does Lewis like most in the whole wide world ?
Lewis loves his food and lots of cuddles. He loves putting things in and out of boxes and handing toys back and forth to you.  Looking out of windows at the world going by and being outside.

What new things is Lewis doing since his last session?
Lewis can now sit up unaided, crawl super fast, walk with some assistance and say some simple words.

How did you prepare the Lewis for the session?
We made sure Lewis had a short nap and had a good feed as well as being changed before the session. We also booked the session to fit with his usual routine

What tips would you give other parents for preparing their baby for the session?
Some of the above making sure they are not too tired and grumpy and less likely to settle happily into the session. Have a familiar toy etc for security and an odd wee treat to sneak to them to help with compliance, if that works. Parents will know how to help them. stay calm, don’t try to force them . Dawn is very good at keeping things calm and not pushing, keeping things easy and informal.

Describe what happened during the cake smash and splash, which part did baby love most?
Lewis was very happy to be there with no complaints from him. He crawled around and made himself familiar with his surroundings before starting. He was happy to be positioned and repositioned when required. He really got in to the cake smash and we had to stop him from demolishing and eating the full cake. He also loved being in the bubble bath sequence at the end and really got into the splashing before a cuddle in a towel, dressed and then our goodbyes.

What did you bring with you to the session?
Just the usual filled nappy bag ,and spare clothes, food etc you usually take out. A couple of his toys , which he never looked at.

Is there anything you wish you brought and didn’t?
A towel for after the bubbles, but Dawn provided us with one.

How do you feel the session went overall?
Great session went very smoothly with lots of very natural shots, no pressure to “pose”.
put very much at ease by Dawn. Fabulous safe studio space with lovely effective
backgrounds to use. Good non directive advice form Dawn which made for natural shots.

Is there any advice you would give to parents for their session?
Enjoy it, don’t stress the baby, or yourself, if they won’t sit still. Let dawn do her job of
capturing the moment.

If this was your last session (1 year), how do you feel about the overall milestone package experience, would you recommend it to other parents?
Definitely, an enjoyable worthwhile and memorable experience for me and lewis.
