Newborn Photography Info

Hello Baby!

Congratulations on your happy news! I’m so excited that you’ve chosen to seek out a professional photographer to capture the first days of your new baby’s life.

Babies don’t stay this tiny and sleepy forever and soon they will be crawling, walking and exploring the world around them.

The best time for a Newborn photography session is when your baby is between 5 and 14 days old, this is when your baby will be most sleepy and still used to being posed in womb like positions.

After your photo session you will be invited back to the studio to view your edited gallery.  It is then you will decide how to present your images.

Most of my clients value stunning artwork to hang on their wall, so each image I create for you has been edited and designed as a main focus piece that will tell the story of your family.

If my packages don’t tempt you and you wish to buy prints or individual wall art then you can create your own collection – I offer a selection of digital and printed products starting from £289.

Your session won’t cost you a single penny and is completely free to attend. There is a £99 retainer fee that books your photo session and is deducted from your final order.

All my packages contain all your images from your session, so there is no need to make a heartbreaking decision of leaving precious memories behind.

If my packages don’t tempt you and you wish to buy just a few digital files, prints or individual wall art then there is a minimum spend of £299.

When should I book my Newborn Photography session?
You should start thinking about booking your session around your 14 – 18 week scan. I’ll make some space in the diary around your due date in case your baby arrives early or late.
How old should my baby be for a Newborn session?
From days 4 – 14. I like to photograph babies days 4-6. Newborns sleep nice and deep at this age.
How long does a session take?
Newborn Photography – approximately 2-4 hours. The younger babies sleep deeper and so the quicker your session will flow.
What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the session?
When you book with me we’ll have a phone consultation on how to prepare for the session. Generally, if you stick to these instructions and if your baby is warm, with a full tummy and in general good health – he/she will naturally fall asleep. Of course, sometimes it may take a little while for baby to fall asleep and this is your time to relax and let me take over
What happens if baby “poops” during the session?
Don’t worry about it, accidents happen all the time. All blankets, clothing and props are washed after each session regardless of little accidents happening.
What happens after the session?
5-7 days after your session I will invite you back to the studio for a Preview and Ordering session. Your gallery will contain around 20 fully retouched images to view and I will help you decide on your favourites. Most of my clients value stunning artwork to hang on their wall, so each image has been edited and designed as a main focus piece. Take note that it is during this Preview and Ordering session that you will order and pay for any products, prints and packages. All major debit and credit cards are accepted.

Do you retouch/edit the images?
Yes, all images are artistically retouched.
What if I need to cancel?

There is a 48-hour cancellation policy. However I do understand that babies and children are prone to catching colds or becoming ill suddenly. I’ll do everything I can to reschedule your appointment to another day.  Should you fail to attend your session without notification then the retainer fee is non refunable as compensation for time lost.
